Sometimes words seem to fall on deaf ears. Eloquent and fancy words can be completely ineffectual. But we have probably heard words that seem to be filled with power and authority. We just knew they were true, and we had the desire to follow. They seemed to come from another source and to have spiritual force behind them. These are the kind of words that Jesus spoke - words of truth not only because they were true but because of who spoke them. His words of truth were His most effective 'weapons'.

We can also speak words of power and authority, but there is one catch: they will not be our words, but the words of God's Spirit within us. Paul tells us of the Spirit which explores both the depths of God and our hearts, and this same spirit is poured into the heart and mind of one who is prepared to receive it. This spiritual wisdom will be at odds with both worldly wisdom and our own opinions. It can only work within us when we give up clinging to our own truth and when we allow our 'self' to step out of the way. This Spirit is our teacher and our guide, and it waits to be invited into our lives. We are not alone in our daily journey.

Lord, may Your Spirit be my teacher and guide.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That those who are unemployed, homeless, or in any serious need may find welcome, understanding, and help in overcoming their difficulties.
