Some people place as many obstacles as possible in front of people who are struggling on their journey to God. They are in love with rules and they make the path as difficult and demanding as possible. This attitude can be found in any religion - and it basically turns religion into a burden rather than a joy. But there are others who rejoice when people open their hearts to God and will go out of their way to make as few demands as possible. When it is obvious that someone has been touched by God the only proper response is joy and welcome. Let us do what we can to make our own religion as joyful and welcoming as possible. God asks for only a humbled and loving heart.

Love is the very essence and core of our religious faith. Love is simple and uncomplicated (but not easy!) and if we focus on that alone then we will be spiritually fulfilled. As long as we abide or live in love then we live in God. Love is the only way we can know God - we cannot reason, buy, or manipulate our way to God. Jesus promises that if we remain in his love then we will be continually nourished and strengthened by him. When we live in love we are transformed into the image of Christ and are empowered to do wonderful things. This is not our own achievement but a gracious gift of the Lord.

Lord, help me to live in Your love.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
