Perhaps we have been persecuted or bullied because of our beliefs or for taking an unpopular stand. Jeremiah certainly was - he discovered that some were plotting to kill him! And Jesus certainly was, along with many of those through the centuries that have followed him. It should not discourage us or make us feel that we are failing in some way. In some respects, it can be a sign that we are on the right path. Holiness, faith, and virtue will always be misunderstood and ridiculed by some. To those that embrace these values, there are blessings beyond measure.

The crowd was divided - some were moved by the words and deeds of Jesus, while others hardened their hearts. Many asked the question: Could he be the Messiah? The authorities in power rejected Jesus, for they felt threatened and afraid. The ordinary people were far more open. They had nothing to lose and everything to gain by believing in Jesus. The Lord has never appealed to everyone, but he will always touch many. Let us be sure of our faith and commitment and provide a sign of hope and encouragement for others.

Lord, may I always walk the path of faith and holiness.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
