Biblical scholars teach us to pay attention to the different ways in which, according to John's Gospel, Jesus speaks about the gift of life. He teaches Nicodemus that "Whoever believes in the Son, has eternal life", thus affirming our possession of the gift of life in the present, here and now. At other times he speaks of the gift of life given when we are raised up on the last day, sometime in the future. Through our faith in Jesus, the apparent contradiction is resolved: the gift of eternal life which we receive in its fullness after death, is already offered to us in the Church through the sacraments, for the Church and its sacraments receive their power and efficacy through the resurrection of Jesus and the coming of the Holy Spirit. We are blessed by the gifts of faith, hope and love, all the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the ever-present gift of eternal life giving meaning and magnificence to our daily earthly lives.

God of mercy, may the Easter mystery we celebrate be effective throughout our lives. May the joy of Easter foster our spiritual lives in the faith, hope and love you have bestowed on us in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus our Lord.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That young people may respond generously to their vocations and seriously consider offering themselves to God in the priesthood or consecrated life.
