The response to the psalm today, "Here I am, Lord! I come to do Your Will," gives us a clear answer to the question of "What is my calling in life?" It is to be a witness to God's love and mercy, to proclaim the wonders of the Lord, as the last stanza of the psalm tells us, "My lips I have not sealed; You know it O Lord."

In this age of social media, we have ample opportunity to become witnesses, but what do we do? We post ourselves dancing, singing etc, sometimes to the point of silliness. This is especially true for the younger generation, who only post things that can bring in likes and followers.

We need to be like John the Baptist, who pointed out the Lamb of God in today's Gospel. Instead of glorifying himself, he knew what his calling was and directed all glory to Jesus. However, even those who are "witnesses" on social media can fall into the trap of self-glorification, especially when they begin to become popular and "adored."

Self-awareness and humility are the best defence against pride and we must always be on guard against this sin, lest it causes us to fall; and the higher we are, the harder we fall.

Lord, we pray that we will be aware of who we are before You, with humility and self-awareness.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
For prayer with the Word of God.
Let us pray that praying with the Word of God be nourishment for our lives and a source of hope in our communities, helping us to build a more fraternal and missionary Church.
