A man approaches Jesus and asks Him to intervene over an inheritance dispute. Jesus is not interested in such quarrels over money or property. How many lives have been destroyed, how many people killed over disputes about money! As Jesus says, a person's security does not lie in what he has, even if he has a lot more than he needs. Yet we all think that, if we win the lottery, all our troubles will be over. As someone said, those are most rich whose needs are the least. Jesus illustrates his teaching with a striking parable. A man has made it rich on his farm. He has such a huge harvest that he won't have to work for the rest of his life. He does not realise that a little clot of blood could get stuck in his heart or brain and what use is all his money now? The only way to be rich is to be rich in God's sight, rich with a life lived in harmony with his will.

Teach me, Lord, to understand what are the most precious things I need in my life.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That young people may follow Christ, the way, the truth, the life with generous enthusiasm and be ready to bear witness to him in all the situations in which they live.
