Many of us will have a lot of sympathy with the words of St. Paul in today's passage from Romans: "We do not know how to pray as we ought". When we pray, perhaps most of us confine ourselves to the prayer of petition. We ask God for the things we need. It might help us to progress in prayer if in our petitions we were to think of experiences instead of needs. St. Paul says, "We know that God makes all things work together for the good of those who have been called according to his decree". We have been called. We should, then, be able to see that God makes all things work together for good. Yet we may ask ourselves whether we do have such an experience. In our daily lives, do we have eyes to see all the good that God is doing for us and through us for other people? If we were to ask for the grace to see how God does make all things work together for good, this petition itself would already alert us to God's presence in our lives.

Father in heaven, send Your Spirit into our hearts so that we may see that You make all things work together for the good of those who have been called.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That young people may follow Christ, the way, the truth, the life with generous enthusiasm and be ready to bear witness to him in all the situations in which they live.
