Timothy and Titus were disciples and missionary colleagues of Paul. The so-called Pastoral Letters attributed to Paul are addressed to them. The readings speak of the mission they had to continue the work of Jesus in making the Kingdom of God a reality in our world. The Gospel speaks of Jesus' instructions to his first disciples. They are to live simply. They are to bring healing and peace to those among whom they work and invite them to become active members in the work of bringing God's Kingdom of truth, love and justice into their world. The very same mission has been given to us through our Baptism and our membership of the Christian community. We live in a very different world from theirs but the need for healing, justice and peace is no less than it ever was.

Grant us, Lord, to have the courage and conviction that led Timothy and Titus to serve You so well.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all men and women may recognise that they are members of God's one family and end wars, injustice and discrimination among themselves.
