The Gospel describes a day in the life of Jesus. It is a day of service and healing, a day totally dedicated to the needs of others. It begins with the healing of Peter's mother-in-law. But, as soon as she is well, she gets up and begins serving the people of the house. She follows the example of Jesus - as we are called to do also.

With the coming of evening and the end of the Sabbath restrictions, Jesus goes out to bring healing to a large number of people who come crowding round Him. The work of healing service continues. It is what the world needs most - healing. Healing not just of body but also of mind and spirit, not just of individuals but of families and whole communities. The world's greatest need is for the wholeness that healing brings in every dimension of life.

At the end of the day, Jesus goes off to a quiet place - to tend to His own needs in prayer with His Father. There are so many other people who need His loving care. Today I will ask where are the areas of my life which most need healing. And I will also ask whether I am a healing influence in the lives of others.

Lord, make me an instrument of Your healing peace.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
