One of the things that I notice among parishioners is that we tend to be more attracted to activities and festivities in church. However, when it comes to things like Holy Hour and the like, very few people will turn up. Of course, this is a very general observation because there will be places where people will turn up regardless of the occasion.

The prophet Isaiah reminds us that the Lord can no longer endure festivals and solemnities, that we can multiply our prayers, but the Lord will not listen. If we really think about it, are we really that different from the people of the Old Testament? We come to church for Mass or for some other function, we attend rallies and retreats, and yet there is little or no change. Even if there is some change, it only lasts for a short while.

We should take the command of the Lord seriously - cease to do evil and learn to do good, to search for justice and help the oppressed. Instead of navel gazing or being full of ourselves in thinking that we are helping others. We do not need to trumpet our deeds but instead, offer it quietly to the Lord. Only then will God truly listen to us.

Lord, may I focus on the right things, and live my life in peace and harmony with everyone.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
