When we look at the world today, with its many voices and conflicting opinions, we may be tempted to think that God is so loving that He allows us to do whatever we want, even when we turn away from Him. On the other hand, we may imagine Him as a strict judge Who keeps count of every fault, expecting us to meet a certain standard of goodness to earn His approval.

Yet, through the parable of the wheat and the darnel, Jesus reveals to us that God is both loving and just. The first reading from Wisdom reminds us that God governs with both justice and leniency, while the second reading assures us that He understands even the hidden movements of our hearts. Knowing our every thought, our faults and hidden depths, He sees true beauty in each one of us and continues to be patient, giving us time for growth, repentance, and transformation. This is why, in the Gospel, the landowner allowed the darnel to grow alongside the wheat, not out of indifference, but so that no good would be harmed in the process.

As Christians in a world that is quick to judge and condemn what is perceived as wrong or bad, we are called to be as compassionate with others as God is gentle with us, remembering how much He has endured our faults. Let us then be lenient with one another, especially with faults and with weaknesses we don't understand, protecting even the smallest human life as God's gift to us.

Lord, help me to be compassionate like You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
