Micah prophesied during the rising threat of the Assyrian Empire. Through Micah's prophecy, the Lord was sharing His frustration with the people of Israel. The Lord had done so much for the people, yet they had not followed the way of the Lord. Micah was questioning what the people should do. The answer given was simple but not easy - to act justly, love kindness and walk humbly with God. We are called to do the same. The Lord has done so much for us. Are we following the way of the Lord?
In spite of Jesus' miracles, the scribes and Pharisees wanted Jesus to give them a sign to prove His identity. Jesus only offered the sign of Jonah and said that just as Jonah had been in the belly of the whale for three days, so Jesus would be buried for three days. The people of Nineveh had repented when Jonah spoke and the Queen of the South had travelled a great distance to hear Solomon speak. Yet the scribes and Pharisees would not listen to Jesus Who was greater than either Jonah or Solomon. What about us? Are we willing to listen to Jesus?
Father God, help me to listen to Jesus and to walk in His way.
