Today we commemorate the Baptism of our Lord. The baptism of Jesus at the Jordan confirms and manifests His mission and identity. His baptism also gives us an example that we are to follow and it also calls to mind our own baptism and vocation. Jesus is the beloved Son of the Father. His vocation and identity was being the "faithful and humble servant of the Father's will". Jesus preached the Kingdom of God and went about doing good things that accompany the reign of God.

Through Jesus' death and resurrection we became sons and daughters of our heavenly Father. As children of God we are called to share and continue the mission of Jesus. In our everyday lives we may not do great things but we have the power to do good things. We can work for justice, remove the blindness of ignorance and prejudice etc.

Therefore on this day of the Lord's baptism may we strive to follow Jesus more closely, love Him more dearly, and see Him more clearly. May others see us in our daily lives that we are humble and faithful servants of God. May our baptismal promises be realised in our words and deeds.

O Jesus, give us the grace to be faithful and humble servants. Help us to respond to Your command to love and serve. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
