Most of us in our desire for meaningful faith seem to be saying to God, "show me and I will believe". This approach never works. Believe first and you will definitely see the power of God. St Paul who had a dramatic experience of the Lord and of the Lord's love for him received the gift of faith. Today St Paul emphasises the faith of Abraham. It was through faith that Abraham became the father of many nations, although it appeared quite impossible as he was a hundred years old. Yet, he trusted God who is able to do what He promises. Consequently, the children of Abraham are not those by law but those who like him trust in God.

As pilgrims on this earth or as witnesses of Christ we are bound to face difficulties and fears. But when such occasions arise, we too will experience the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit provided we have faith and enter into a true relationship with God just as Abraham did. It is in the Gospel today that Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit will lead and guide us in all our undertakings. Yes, the Lord takes care of those who have complete faith in Him.

Almighty God, we are grateful for the promise of Your spirit's presence. Deepen within us the courage to be led by it. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the Christians who are in minority situations may have the strength and courage to live faith and persevere in bearing witness to it.
